Another Unreleased Ferry/Eno Collaboration Revealed

Brian EnoYou might remember that recently I reported on the speculation from Ferry himself that the 'half a dozen' tracks left over from 'Dylanesque' might one day see the light of day.

I understand that amongst the offcuts rescued from the studio floor is Ferry's take on Zimmerman's 'It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry'.

Just as he did for 'If Not For You' on 'Dylanesque' Eno apparently provides 'treatments' on the track, which first appeared on Dylan's 1965 album 'Highway '61 Revisited'.

It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry
(Bob Dylan)

Well, I ride on a mailtrain, baby,
Can't buy a thrill.
Well, I've been up all night, baby,
Leanin' on the window sill.
Well, if I die
On top of the hill
And if I don't make it,
You know my baby will.

Don't the moon look good, mama,
Shinin' through the trees?
Don't the brakeman look good, mama,
Flagging down the 'Double E'?
Don't the sun look good
Goin' down over the sea?
Don't my gal look fine
When she's comin' after me?

Now the wintertime is coming,
The windows are filled with frost.
I went to tell everybody,
But I could not get across.
Well, I wanna be your lover, baby,
I don't wanna be your boss.
Don't say I never warned you
When your train gets lost.

Roxyrama's Manifesto

...well, more of a blog actually! This is the place where I make occasional comment on current Roxy Music events, or add news that doesn't justify a full news posting. Sometimes it's just about what I'm thinking at the time. The opinions here are my own and may not necessarily relect the views of Roxy Music fans in general.
