Virginia Plain/Pjamarama Single Review

Melody Maker, 15th October 1977

Roxy Music: "Virginia Plain" / "Pyjamarama" (Polydor).

As the possibility of Roxy Music reuniting becomes slimmer and slimmer, Polydor have issued their first two A-sides back-to-back. The picture bag even has the first in the long line of centrefold sirens. All pink frills and pout. "Virginia Plain" withstands he temporal test especially well; Ferry's stylised quaver, Paul Thompson's juggernaut drumming, Eno's stuttering treatments. Noel Coward in a leopard-skin pill-box hat...with eye-liner?
