BryanFerry.com Gets a New(ish) Soundtrack
29 Aug 2009
Bryan Ferry's revitalised website has received an interesting update in the form of a new musical backdrop.
The music, which carries the name 'Film 82', is a compilation of some of Bryan Ferry's best compositional pieces and some studio outtakes put together, and indeed named, for their 'cinematic possibilities'.
According to BF:
I was keen to do some music without vocals, which would work on an abstract and atmospheric level, and the website seems like a good place for it'
Produced with Rhett Davies with, as I understand it, some input from Bryan's son Isaac, the 12 minute piece showcases Ferry's not inconsiderable composing and arranging abilities, and is made up of pieces that date back to Avalon-era sessions at their earliest. The segue includes excerpts from The Main Thing, Rain, Rain, Rain, Can't Let Go, Boys and Girls, Rescue Me, Zamba, Nocturne and Feel The Need amongst others. There's some lovely work here.
It isn't quite as new as it appears however. The piece (or at least a version of it) did make a previous appearance on the bryanferry.com website for a few months back in December 2006.
The news item on the site also confirms Bryan Ferry's intention to release his new album in March 2010, and given the amount of activity there has been recently, it would seem that the Ferry organisation is starting to crank up its publicity machine.
