Roxy Music To Play Lovebox Festival
23 Feb 2010
Roxy Music are to play their first gig in five years at the Lovebox Weekender festival this summer.
The band will headline the three-day event in Victoria Park on the Saturday night at the invitation of dance DJs Groove Armada, who founded the festival eight years ago.
Bryan Ferry commented: "There is a song on my album that I have co-written with Groove Armada. They asked me if Roxy would like to perform at Lovebox. We, of course, thought it would be cool."
The band broke up in 1983 but reunited for a World tour in 2001, though have worked together only sporadically since then.
The bill will also include Mark Ronson and the Business, Australian duo Empire of the Sun, Ellie Goulding and a number of bands with London connections including The Maccabees, Hot Chip and the Noisettes. Dizzee Rascal headlines on Friday night and Grace Jones will headline the final day.
The event is running to three days for the first time and runs from the 16th to the 18th of July.
