Review: - I'm grateful to Roxyrama contributor 'Zen' for
this personal review The concerts were really fantastic. But because I know all of the concerts in this tour were great and many other fans had already mentioned how fantastic they were, I will not repeat the "same" review. I'll write down some miscellanous things related to the gigs in our country. On the first day, their performances seemed to be a little stiff. Due to the interval after the tour in Australia?, or due to a conspicuous number of vacant seats?... I don't know. But I think it is possible that it was partially caused by "well-behaved" japanese audience. Generally speaking the japanese audience tends to keep calm and modest even when they are deeply moved. In addition not a few of them may be the fans after the F+B~Avalon period and have a little enthusiasm for RM/RM, Ladytron.... There were some topics. Sara Brown was absent due to illness and was replaced by Vicky Akpewrene. The number of dancing girls were reduced to three. And on 'In Every...' Chris played his electric sitar, which he had bought in August, for the first time. They didn't play my favorite Mother Of Pearl. I could enjoy another favorite Virginia Plain but very few people replied to "What's her name?". On the second day, Virginia Plain dropped from the list and Avalon was added. What a shame.... On the other hand their performances and the response of the audience became much better. But it was still not enough to satisfy me.... On the last
day, the hall was full up with the audience among which I could find
some faces that I had seen on the first and the second day. Hoping to
cheer them up, I and my friend Hideki who sat next to me decided to
do the "Roxy!" call before opening. We stood up about 5 minutes
before South Downs and started "Roxy! cha, cha, cha (hand clap)"
like "Viva!" live album. (I was very surprised when the lighting
staff turned the spotlight to us!!). Many of them joined in and I think
our call reached the members' ears at backstage. It was great experience for me to feel the relationship between the band and the audience getting closer and closer in three consecutive gigs. |
