Prior to release its official release, Bryan Ferry experimented with a different running list and alternative artwork for his 1978 album '
The Bride Stripped Bare'.
The original artwork, which showed Bryan Ferry against a mountainous Alpine background was rejected as not 'punk' enough.
The cover was gatefold, with a single disc and an an inner sleeve that displayed a selection of Ferry's lyrics on the outside.
Ferry also originally had two different tracks, '
Four Letter Love' and '
Broken Wings' on Side Two. These self-penned compositions were replaced by two soul classics, '
Hold On (I'm Coming)' and '
That's How Strong My Love Is' for the official release, and the running order was changed. The two dumped tracks were later released as B-sides.
This version of the artwork is extremely rare. Fewer than 10 copies were made, one of which is in Bryan Ferry's posession. Record Collector valued this item at £400 in 1999, calling it the third rarest Roxy collectable.
